With Justin Bieber’s hit Christmas album getting lots of radio play, your kids (and you) may have “Mistletoe” stuck in your head all month.
While we don’t have the Biebs in stock at our flower shop, we do have mistletoe. Mistletoe is a lovely plant with festive white berries. The make a beautiful accent to your Christmas centerpiece, or of course, can stand alone hanging from your ceiling.
You may know the tradition of hanging mistletoe from a doorway. If you get caught under it with someone, a kiss is demanded. Originally, people started hanging mistletoe in their homes for good luck against house fires. It would be left up all year and replaced every Christmas Eve. I am not sure how house fire prevention became kissing, but it certainly makes a more fun practice!
Ask Eden for a mistletoe ball and start a new tradition in your home. Just make sure your twin daughter knows hanging mistletoe does not guarantee a kiss from Justin.

We recently had the honor of hosting the Cincinnati Branch of EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization).
EO is a dynamic, global network of business owners designed to assist entrepreneurs learn, grow, and succeed, both personally and professionally. Because of the huge business growth in Over the Rhine, EO focused their monthly meeting on our changing area of Cincinnati. The meeting began at Eden Floral Boutique’s unique studio. Guests mingled, ate and drank before speeches and tour of other Over the Rhine businesses.
Our space offers a perfect setting for gatherings and we are always pleased to host events, both professional and social.

As we head into the incredibly busy Holiday Season, we at Eden Floral Boutique would like to take a moment to thank our amazing clients. We are so thankful every time someone chooses us to be their florist. It is a joy to see that even during times of economic stress, people still make an effort to celebrate each other with flowers. It has been a pleasure and an honor to be included in so many of our client’s most important occasions. With you, our client, we’ve celebrated love – both new and lasting with weddings, anniversaries, and engagements. We’ve thanked mothers and sisters. We’ve welcomed new births and honored lives well lived. We’ve been touched by the thoughtful, kind messages that are sent along with our bouquets asking forgiveness, thanking a friend, offering sympathy, and expressing love. It is truly a blessing to work with all of you. You inspire us to continue to create unique, beautiful arrangements that convey your feelings. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate your life’s moments, both big and small. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Occasionally we have the honor of being the florist for a small wedding, as was the case with Billy and Yangquio. Yangquio asked only for a bridal bouquet for her outdoor wedding at 5 mile chapel. We consider creating one wedding bouquet just as amazing as creating one of our huge center pieces for Music Hall. With much care, we created her bridal bouquet with white phalaenopsis orchids, dalias, and dusty pink garden roses. We wrapped the stems with a black ribbon. The result was a beautiful compliment to Yangquio’s fun and modern wedding. We are so delighted when someone choses us to create their wedding flowers. Whether it is one arrangement or hundreds, we know our wedding flowers will make lasting memories.
Thank to Rachel Spears for sharing her captured memories in these lovely photos.

Elizabeth was one of our most elegant and romantic brides last spring. She chose shades of purples and pinks to create a blissful wedding pallet as beautiful as she is. For her bridal bouquet, we used pale pink peonies and tulips, white calla lilies, and white and pink roses. We used a white satin ribbon wrap to compete the stylish bouquet.
The bridesmaids carried bouquets of varied purple shades. Purple hygrenda, lavendar roses, and purple callas created a beautiful bouquet that complimented the bold purple bridesmaids gowns.
More deep purple hues created romance at the reception. Arrangements of purple roses and purple hydrangea adorned the reception hall.
Thanks to Lauren Difulvio for allowing us to share her beautiful photographs.

Sarah’s beautiful wedding was both retro and feminine. With a soft color palette, the mood was romantic and elegant. With nothing flashy or bold, the faces and smiles were the focus of the day.
Sarah’s bridal bouquet was a small green hydrangea, pale pink roses, peach garden roses, skirted with greens. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the brides bouquet. The subdued colors were a great compliment to the pale peach dresses, adding soft color without distraction.
The wedding and ceremony were held at The Hilton Contential Room. We created centerpieces featuring a white hydrangea encricled by pink and peach roses.

When Anita and Kevin were married, it was more than a celebration of their love. The wedding was truely the marriage of a family. The kids were an integral part of the ceremony and just as much in the spotlight as the gorgeous bride. We love to see how happy and beautiful everyone in the entire family looked.
The family’s union and celebration were held at the Cincinnati Club. Anita was incredibly fun to work with, with wonderful ideas and high energy during every step of the planning. She wanted to make sure her daughters’ flowers were as beautiful as her own. Her tangerine and cheerful yellow color palette was one of our favorites, especially because it was such a reflection of the happiness of the day and Anita’s warm personality.
Anita and Kevin had known each other since high school, and the joining of the family seemed natural and complete. We used many cheerful garden flowers to reflect the natural union.
To create Anita’s bridal bouquet, we used yellow and oranges roses, green hypericum berries, mini orange gerbera daises, and yellow snap dragons. Her oldest daughter carried the same bouquet. The youngest girls wore orange spray rose head wreaths.
We made two large alter pieces containing sunflowers, bells of Ireland, orange and yellow day lilies and gerbera daises. The center pieces were created from the same flowers used in the bouquets. Everything flowed together beautifully.
Thank you to Mark and Cathy Lyons of Lyons Photography for providing photos of the happy day.

Shauna and Brent were married in a glamorous ceremony at Saint Xavier. The following reception at The Bell Event Center was magical and full of style. Crystals and bling sparkled everywhere. Most radiant of all was the Bride. She glowed in gorgeous gown and full length veil. She carried a bridal bouquet of white hydrangeas and lavender roses. We wrapped the stems in rhinestone for a classic meets modern arrangement. The bridesmaids carried lavender roses and gardenia.
At the reception, Shauna created a modern, breathtaking ambiance without going overboard. Everywhere you saw mirrors, lights, candelabras, and crystals, we scattered rose petals to create a balance to the glitz. White hydrangeas and purple roses filled mirrored vases. Dramatic tall vases held white hydrangea, while votive candles glistened in a pool of lavender petals surrounding the base.
The beautiful cake by Mo at Bakery Hill was topped with white hydrangea and liliac roses.
Photographer Brad Smith captured the glamour of the day.

Teresa was a timeless bride. She lives out of town so we did most of our decision making over the phone. Her elegance was apparent even over the phone. We fell in love with her as she chose her flowers and expressed her passion for Over the Rhine and downtown Cincinnati. She always loved Over the Rhine and wanted to support as many downtown Cincinnati businesses as possible. With that spirit, it is not surprising she pulled off an amazing Old Hollywood classic wedding. She wore a gorgeous mermaid gown and worked in a green and white color theme that set the mood classic glamour.
Teresa chose roses and orchids as her wedding flowers. We added hydrangeas and green berries to the ivory roses and green orchids to create a a bouquet perfect for her clean lined, classy bridal look. Her bridesmaids also carried green and white bouquets. We used a pale green rose in their arrangements along with green orchids and berries and white hydrangeas. Keeping the color pallet neutral allowed the wedding party freedom to chose dresses in the color of their choice. The groom and his groomsmen wore green orchid boutonnieres. Green orchids make a great choice for boutonniers because they hold up so well and look amazing.
After a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Mt. Echo park, the reception followed at Teresa’s favorite restaurant, Nicolla’s, right here in Over the Rhine. She was so excited to share her favorite restaurant with her guests. We created reception arrangements in green and white flowers, but added bright pink star gazer lillies. The burst of pink was a fun addition to the lively mood of the reception.
Thanks to Mike Bresnen Photography for providing the lovely wedding photographs.
